Outfit Post for 2010.03.11. (I thought I'd start giving them real names instead of systematically naming them, but since I'm bad with names I'm warning you in advance that they will likely all be song lyrics.)
American Apparel Headband & Afrika Pocket Frock (worn as shirt). Dish jeans. Converse Shoes. Lola's Room blazer. H&M necklace. Guess? bracelet.
So I know my eyebrows are incredibly unruly, but I kind of like it. Also, this American Apparel dress is by far one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe, but I only ever wear it clubbing. I thought I'd try to adapt it for day wear.
I'm supposed to studying for my Anatomy practical tomorrow morning, but it feels so useless - it's so hard to study theory for a practical, because no matter how well you know the theory there's a very large chance it won't translate over to real life.
I just need it to be St. Patty's; I need midterms to finally be OVER.
I liked it. I didn't love it, but I also didn't expect to. But it was an enjoyable movie with its fair share of heartwarming moments. I have to say that my favourite story was probably the Anton Yelchin & Olivia Thirby "Make-A-Wish" story; I also really enjoyed the Shu Qi "Painter" story.
(Also Maggie Q is flawless and Drea de Matteo has an amazing body, so jealous.)
Boots mentioned that NY,ILU made really good use of the city (much better than Paris) and I agree completely. However one of the things that really bothered me about NY,ILU was the messy interconnection of the stories. I understand that they didn't take the Paris path of completely separate stories, but in my opinion they didn't do a good job of connecting them, it was almost... sloppy in my opinion I guess.
I felt that they way they connected the stories was lazy - some had a link, some didn't, and they were all pulled together by the woman with the camera, like the hub in a wheel. To me, interconnected stories should take more of a web format - it rings truer to life.
Last night, Darcy, Boots and I saw A Single Man at the local indie theatre:
Watching the trailer after having seen the movie is giving me chills. This movie was absolutely stunning. When I watching it, I almost felt like I was watching a moving painting - so much though was put into every detail of this movie, it was incredible.
One of my favourite features of the movie was the way that the colours of the world would become more vibrant every time George (Colin Firth) felt emotional - whether it was happiness, lust, sadness, etc. It wasn't over the top though, which was great. You can witness it a bit in the clip below:
This movie was amazing. If you have the chance, watch it.
Reading Week was officially over, as of yesterday.
What I wore my first day back:
French Connection top. Urban Outfitters cardigan. American Apparel belt. Dish jeans. "Peace Sign" necklace from the West Indies.
Very casual and toned down, which was a good decision seeing as how I spent the entire day running between class and the library. Had an incredibly hard Molecular Biology midterm last night, Organic Chemistry is up tonight. Wish me luck! <3
This was very close to my expression last night after the hockey game:
Boots, Darcy and I went to watch the Olympic game at a local pub last night - we travelled to about 5 places before we found a pub that would let us in to watch the game, everywhere was so full. But what can I say, Canadians love their hockey!
Some photos:
It was so much fun, I'm glad I skipped out on the library for it (even though I had a midterm today, and another tomorrow.) It was fun being there with hockey fans of all ages (old men, little kids and everything in between), and it was nice to feel patriotic. Us Canadians, we don't spend enough time being proud of our nation. Instead, we almost run away from our identity - everyone here defines themselves by where they came from, not who we are. I'm glad I got the chance to bond with strangers and come together as a country in the name of hockey.
Student. 23 years old. Born on Jesus' birthday. From Toronto and currently studying at an eastern Ontario university known for its academics, partying hard & lighting the occasional car on fire. Likes brains (it's what she studies in school, after all) but might love shoes even more. Also pretty tall (5'10) but refuses to let anyone make her feel bad for wearing heels. Current Galaxy S3 aficionado & Nikon DSLR owner.
But mostly just a normal (kind of loud) girl with quite a few quirks who is overwhelmed and flattered that you would read her blog. Thanks for stopping by.
