I’ll Wait, So Show Me Why You’re Strong

Community "Paradigm" Parka (from Aritzia) // Fjallraven "Kanken" backpack // EBay Foxtail // H&M Tee // Hiyamoon Crystal Bullet Necklace (on Etsy) // Urban Planet Jeans // Frye "Billy" Boots // Commes Des Fuckdown Beanie

First order of business: HI Y'ALL THIS IS MY NEW BACKPACK AND I LOVE IT. Seriously though, I have a thing for backpacks. I have far too many already and I still want more (a leather backpack in particular.) How will I justify my obsessive backpack purchasing when I'm no longer in school?

Secondly, these boots: Got them over the Christmas break, on EBay for 100 dollars -- they usually RRP for $270! My second Frye boot purchase, and it cemented that it will not be the last.

Thirdly, this song has been on repeat for the past 4-5 days and it's one of the best things I've heard in months. Watch the video below for maximum effect:

And last but not least, me #failing at doing Cara-face for good measure:

Happy weekend my friends!

What's The Good in Being Good

Outfit pictures I blackmailed my sister into taking a billion years ago - took these right after I bought my Community Parka from Aritzia. While everyone and their mother owns it, I'm completely willing to overlook that fact after this past week of relentless -25C weather.

Urban Planet Chiffon Top (yeah, you read that right) // Black Milk "Mucha Black" Leggings // Frye Boots // EBay necklace

In all honestly, I'm not big on dressing for the weather - I love sweaters, but I'm very picky about which ones I buy, so there's not nearly enough to get me through a Canadian winter. Instead, I'd rather just pile on a giant coat & super warm boots to make up for whatever weather-inappropriate getup I'm wearing that day.

This outfit is a pretty typical "Roya-dressed-with-her-eyes-closed-because-she-was-too-tired" outfit: long chiffon top + cool leggings + chunky boots = my uniform.

Also, I have this shit on repeat, and you should too:

christmas wishlist

I posted my "Luxury Wishlist" over at The Style Spy last week, and now I'm giving you my more realistic Christmas Wishlist... in Prezi format. Prezi is basically Powerpoint with insane perspective changes (shit's zooming and panning all over the place), which I discovered less than 12 hours after my last major presentation this semester. Since I can't use it at school, I decided to use it to display my Christmas Wishlist. Enjoy (and view fullscreen for maximum effect.)

Let It Shine

Shameless Aritzia fangirl speaking. Just took a look at their Holiday video and officially want everything.

If someone is willing to lend me a grand or two to spend there over the Holidays, I'd be down with that. Or you could just buy me everything shown below.

I'll make a proper holiday wish list (aka one that has more than just Aritzia on it) once I'm done with exams on Wednesday. Can you believe it's only 12 days til Christmas? So glad I finished the majority of my gift shopping in like, July. (Yeah, I'm one of those.)

Eat That Up, It's Good For You.

Aritzia (Wilfred) sweater, vintage Coach "Willis" satchel, Nixon watch, thrifted shirt, American Apparel leggings, Kodiak socks and Frye boots.

This outfit is what rainy days and feeling under the weather in Kingston will do to a girl. I'm dubbing this my "hobo student life" look - looking slightly dishevelled, being way too comfortable, and wearing a fair amount of Queen's girl staples. See Kodiak socks, plaid shirt, AA shiny leggings and the ubiquitous Wilfred cocoon sweater (what can I say, I'm a product of my environment.)

Anyways, it's Thanksgiving weekend and I'm currently spending the weekend at home with my family. Went shopping yesterday (it's apparently impossible for me to be in Toronto without doing so) and got to check out some new imports to Canada, including J. Crew and Topshop. Ended up with some buys from Aritzia, Topshop and H&M - some basic long sleeves, a cute trapeeze-type top with lace panels and a pair of... faux leather paperbag shorts? Haha. Also fell in love with these Weatherby rainboots from J.Crew. My wishlists are seriously getting out of control. #firstworldproblems

Anyways, I should probably be studying for my abnormal psych exam rather than blogging so I'm out of here. Hope all my Canadians have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

I'm Daydreamin' On A Strawberry Swing

H&M Blazer, Vintage Coach "Willis" Satchel, Wilfred Silk Tank, Bongo Jeans, MBMJ flats, "Roya" Necklace from MyNameNecklace.

Wearing my vintage Coach Willis satchel along with my MBMJ flats, which has definitely become my go-to accessories combo to add a little refinement to any outfit (as you'll see in upcoming outfit posts, haha.) I seriously don't know what I did before I had this purse, but I can assure you it will not be leaving my hands anytime soon. The quality is fantastic, and you can tell this bag came from an age where luxury items were meant to last generations. I don't think you can say the same for the bags that Coach makes today - to be honest, I'd be hard pressed to even call today's Coach bags luxury items.

These pictures were taken the weekend before last, when I took an impromptu trip up to Kingston to to go job hunting for the new school year. I was a little hesitant about spending 70 bucks to go to Kingston for a little more than 24 hours but I guess it paid off, because I got hired on the spot! Glad I have a part-time job to fund my shopping habits & hopefully a great reading week trip.

For this week though, I plan on enjoying my week of #funemployment between the end of my summer job and the beginning of school/start of new job. #funemployment consists of: lolling around in bed til noon (which I haven't actually been able to do so far, because my internal clock is still used to waking at 5.30am), baking, watching excessive amounts of TV, chilling with friends, eating good food, and generally enjoying life. I'm looking forward to it.

P.S. Thanks to Kirstie (travel blog/fashion blog/tumblr/twitter) for taking these photos.

I Believe That Life Is a Prize, But To Live Doesn't Mean You're Alive.

First order of business: Leandra Medine is my goddess and The Man Repeller my bible. I dedicate this post to her.

Aritzia sweater, Bongo jeans, American Apparel tank, Forever XXI scarf, scarletbegonia11 @ Etsy necklace, Asos earrings & ring.

Although I will never be as proficient in repulsing the male species through my fashion choices as The Man Repeller, I chose three key "man-repelling" elements to incorporate into today's outfit:
Mehhhhhh, needs more: animal prints / socks-with-sandals / fur / feathers / turbans / drop-crotch pants / clothing that looks like vaginas (and other de-sexifying accessories.)

Also, I have decided to take up crochet & knitting - the perfect hobbies to accompany me when I graduate from man-repeller to spinster. After all, isn't that where this is all going?

I Like My Beats Loud, And My Bass Down Low.

American Apparel dress, Aritzia sweater, Hue tights, Forever XXI necklace.

I think this is an outfit very befitting of a Canadian girl in the midst of winter. The only clothing craving I have experienced this winter was for a warm, thick, knitted sweater - the kind that you imagine wearing at the cabin, sitting by the fire and drinking hot cocoa. (This sweater totally fulfilled that longing.)

I love buying something and being completely obsessed with it - for me, this is always the mark of a good purchase. Nothing frees me from the guilt of buying an expensive item more than getting a ridiculous amount of use out of that piece - at least it was money well spent, right?

I'm going to use 2011 to completely overhaul my closet. It's full of cheap shit that I don't even like - getting dressed in the morning is a pain in the ass. I'm getting to the point in my life where I'd much rather have a closet a third of the size of my current closet, filled with well made things that I love, than my current closet (filled with shit that I'm rather apathetic towards.) Anyone else feel that way?

Better Get Your Right Hand Hi

Aritzia TNA touque. American Apparel leggings & socks. Forever 21 belt. Urban Oufitters BDG T-Shirt. Thrifted flannel shirt.

So I am incredibly lazy - took these photos quite a while ago but never got around to posting. About the flannel: I have only just recently discovered the magical wonderland that is Value Village. THE PLACE IS AMAZING. Got this shirt there, and on the day this picture was taken, went vintage shopping. Have also worn several variations of this outfit since then.

Shopping Takes the Pain Away

So I bought myself some new things, after a bad couple of days. (To be honest, I've had worse, I just like having excuses to make myself feel better.)

Had a Organic Chem lab on Wednesday in which I got no product. Then about an hour later I wrote one of the hardest midterms I've had all year. (But apparently not everyone thought it was bad, which kind of makes things even worse - I'm alone in my suffering! What can I say, misery loves conpany.) And I just got home for Reading Week only for my friends to be locked up studying or going home because their Reading Week is ending. Sadness.

Fake Pearl Necklace from H&M, which I really only bought because I wanted to take photos:

The last one is for Darcy: "clutchin' ma pearls!"

Also, Darcy and I had a very long discussion about blazers and how we could both be missing such staple pieces. Today I went on a blazer hunt and I found a few that I liked, but I'm kind of on a strict budget. So I ended up getting this boyfriend blazer from a little boutique in the town where I go to school:

Also, got a little TNA toque from Aritzia. I feel that Boots and Darcy will judge me, seeing as how it has "tnatnatna" written all over it, but I have a sick weakness for hats. Just look at how cute it is!

God bless Canadian winters for indulging me and my love of touques.

P.S. Joke of the night:

I am in love with this one campaign featuring Yulia Kharlapova for Moschino; I have it everywhere. Including as my computer background.

Mom, strolling by.
Mom: Who are all those people in those graduation photos?
Laughs to self, walks away.

Oh mother. Never change.
