procrastination is the mother of invention

The title of this post (at least in my case) should probably be changed to "procrastion is fantastic motivation to start working on one of those entirely impractical DIYs you've had bookmarked for the last ten years" - but alas, that was too long. And the title I chose sounded better.

I've been dying to try my hand at making this bag ever since I bought my leather AA clutch over a month ago. Credit to Fashion 411 for the incredibly easy DIY.

The fruits of my labour:

We can consider this post a what's in her bag clutch and DIY all in one. (And yes, that is an Epi-Pen and an asthma inhaler. I was THAT kid.)

Also, joke of the day: I make said clutch, and run downstairs to show my dad my handiwork. He is rather unimpressed, but fakes some enthusiasm anyways (god bless his soul). I set down the clutch to go make dinner... and immediately lose it. There should probably be some rule banning people who are nearly legally blind without glasses (me) from making transparent things.

Now Rumour Has She Ain't Got Your Love Anymore.

So remember when I said I was going to learn how to knit & crochet? I wasn't fucking with you. Behold, my first project:

This was crocheted. It was crazy easy and I've had at least three requests from family & friends to make one since I got home. For anyone who crochets, feel free to click here for the pattern.

I know I've been absent for about 12 million years in blog time, which still translates to a fairly long period even in real time. I promise to post at least one outfit post home while home on reading week, since I have both the time and access to a dSLR.

Kodak Moment.

Continued working on the cutoffs from last post:

Mommy jeans from Value Village: $8
Pyramid studs on EBay: $4
The feeling of accomplishment after finishing a kick-ass DIY? Priceless.

One Mind, One Heart, One Love.

Wore the outfit below to my friend's Father's Day BBQ (my parents were gone on vacation). I wore an altered version of the mommy jeans from last post:

Dynamite blazer. American Apparel Afrika Print Big Pocket Tank. Ring from flea market. Thrifted DIY cutoff shorts. H&M dotted tights. Jeffrey Campbell "Clinic" wedges.

Good things about this past week:

--Finally received my Jeffrey Campbell Clinics!
--My parents have been on vacay, leaving me alone in my house for a week. Love these times.
--The G20 summit has induced a "casual-dress" code at work; basically means I have worn jeans to work everyday this week. LOVE.
--It's the World Cup people! I'm cheering on Brazil (I lived there when I was younger.) I'm so anxious about the Brazil-Portugal game on Friday.

Also:

--There was an earthquake today. IN CANADA. This stuff doesn't happen to us. And earthquakes are kinda a big here.
--Obsessed with the song from the title of this post - "One Love" by Trey Songz. Had it on repeat on bus to work today, but luckily my iPod died and allowed me to regain my sanity. Although I may have it on repeat as I write this post...

Anyways, working on spicing up the shorts in this post. Once again, stay tuned...

Oh Wow. Lovely.

Last Friday, my housemates & I hosted a "Skins" inspired blacklight party. I wore the shredded t-shirt that I mentioned ages ago I would make. Pictures below:

American Apparel socks, leggings and belt. Aldo necklace. DIY Shredded Hanes Tee.

The party was frigging amazing. Blacklights honestly automatically make anything about ten times better. The photos above were taken with disposable cameras, and I love the look of them. Looking at film photos kind of makes me want to never use a digital camera again (if only they weren't so convenient!)
