Til' Death Do Us Part

Three recently purchased items I have an unnatural attachment to:

Photography Credit: Philippe Dorman (flickr/blog/twitter)

1) Rebecca Minkoff MAC (Morning After Clutch) -- I've always wanted the MAC and after seeing it significantly discounted at the RM Endless summer sale, I decided to take the plunge and go for it. Glad to say it was not an impulse I regretted (I've had far too many of those) - the bag is extremely wearable, roomy on the inside, organized, and has just the perfect amount of badass.

2) Aldo "Qualheim" boots, aka the poor woman's Isabel Marant Dicker Boots.  -- There's a reason the Dicker boots are so popular - they're practical but fashionable, and they somehow go with pretty much every outfit imaginable (who knew tan boots were so versatile?) Unfortunately my "inspired" Aldo pair is a bit tight in the toe so I'm taking them to a cobbler to get them stretched - here's to hoping they'll be wearable after this. My love affair with these boots has gone to far for me to give up on them now.

3) Nixon "The Time Teller" -- This watch is seriously my favourite purchase since my Frye boots (which I could go on about for days.) Even the simplicity of the name only accentuates what I love about this watch - its minimalistic principles - the way something can be stripped down to it's bare bones, and end up being even more luxurious. I got this watch for 100 USD, and most people have been surprised at how little I paid, especially considering the average "fashionable" watch (ex. Micheal Kors) runs around 300 bucks.

Anddddd now I'm banned from buying luxury goods anything very long time. (Or at least until the next expensive item catches my fancy...)

God Only Knows

ASOS dress, H&M clutch and belt, Aldo heels, bangle borrowed from the world's most awesome mother.

Another post that I've had lined up for roughly a billion years. Wore this to my cousin's wedding a couple weeks ago, which was a) tons of fun and b) one of the most hipster affairs I've been to in a while. My cousin wore TOMS to get married and DJed his own reception (to the styling tunes of Peter, Bjorn & John, and the like.) This outfit came together at the last minute in a complete panic, but ended up being exactly what I envisioned - don't you just love when that happens?

Disclaimer: These pictures were taken at the end of the day, after the wedding. I did not go with a crinkled dress and a really bad hairstyle, but that's what a wedding will do to a girl sometimes.

I haven't taken outfit pictures in so long and while I;d like to have a good reason, I don't - I've just been super lazy. Although I guess not having access to my Dad's dSLR anymore is a good excuse? I'm seriously just waiting it out until he gives it to me - I think this Christmas might be it, kids. Cross your fingers for me.

P.S. Thanks to Lex (personalblog/tumblr/twitter)for taking these pictures for me this time, and countless others.

What A Melancholy Astronautic Man

Joe Fresh Shirt, Bongo Jeans, Aldo Sandals, Asos Earrings, secondhand bangle from Mom.

The outfit I wore for lunch at Canoe this past Sunday. After searching all summer for the perfect menswear inspired silk shirt (and contemplating blowing my student budget on an Equipment blouse more than once), I found my perfect match in the unlikeliest of places - Joe Fresh, and on sale for twenty dollars no less.

Also, checked out the TopShop capsule collection at the Bay downtown, and I must say that I'm excited for TopShop to come to Canada in Spetember. Now all we need is a Uniqlo, and shopping in Toronto may not be so bad after all...

Ridin' With A Swag That I Got From Outer Space

Forever 21 sunglasses & necklace, Old Navy top, AA cycle shorts, Aldo sandals.

Keeping it simple with an oversized tunic and lace bicycle shorts - pretty much my uniform last weekend when my friends and I trolloped around the city for a number of Caribana related events. (My apologies for how tarty I look in the last photo, I didn't realize my top had fallen off my shoulder.)

Also, I saw Rihanna on Thursday! It was okay, but I kind of wish I had seen her before OVO Fest as I probably would have been a lot more enthusiastic - but as it stands, there really wasn't any comparison.

Also, the d-bags running the concert took away my camera, even though it's not even an SLR - apparently only pocket cams are allowed at concerts these days? So I don't have any pictures, unfortunately.

This Sentence Will Ruin/Save Your Life.

Forever 21 tee, H&M bag, Aldo ring, Ardene's belt, Dad's FCUK shirt worn as skirt, vintage cowboy boots.

This is what what I wore Saturday night, the night I thought I was going to see Inception but ended walking into a packed show and having my ticket refunded. Good times.

Got the whole "Wear-A-Men's-Shirt-As-A-Skirt!" idea from one of Sandra's posts at 5 inch and up. The girl is a genius, seriously. And it turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself. (Although my father was less than pleased and my mother "doesn't get kids these days.")

My precious photographer (and one of my best friends):

Also, I have a thing for street signs, no matter what they have written on them... so shiny.

(SLOW = ME. LOOK AT HOW COOL I AM. YOU DON'T WITNESS THIS EVERYDAY, PEOPLE.)

P.S. The title is from a Born Ruffians song - it's an A+ lesson in discontinuous thoughts if I've ever seen one. Much like this post.

I Know You've Been Burned, But Every Fire Is A Lesson Learned.

armour ring from ebay, gold ring from Aldo, O.P.I nail polish in "Lucky Lucky Lavender"

Received my new Vivenne Westwood knockoff inspired armour ring today - I'm in love already. Painted my nails this beautiful pink-lilac shade in celebration - it's a pretty big deal for me, considering I only paint my nails black. Ever.

I currently own like, 4 rings, I kid you not. I'm honestly just really picky about them, and I just went through an accessories overhaul in which I threw out all my old stuff that was missing a side/tarnished/not my style anymore. Aspiring to have a ring collection more like this:

Or these chicks:

All images from tumblr via Asymmetrica.

And while I'm at it, check out Asymmetricera (where I got most of those ring photos from). A style blog run by Sinead & Mychelle; two girls who inspire me daily not just through their own ensembles but also through kick-ass photos they find throughout the net of items & looks most of us could only dream about.

Anyways, off to buy this ring stand from Urban Outfitters:

Here's to hoping it'll help inspire me in my quest to become a fabulous bag lady with way too many rings.

P.S. Updated my sidebar with blogs I've recently fallen in love with. Canadians are bolded because we're too sexy for our shirts.

So Long, Farewell, auf Wiedersehen, Good Night (but only until May 1st.)

Going on hiatus until May 1st, as it is exam period and I generally dress in only comfy (read: ugly) clothing when studying for finals as I am generally locked up in my room or the library. Most depressing time of the year. Not to mention I will also be moving soon and a lot is happening at the moment.

Only pretend online shopping is keeping me alive:

Then I realize that I'm poor and do not have $400 to spend at Aldo, and I get even more depressed.
As is life.

I'll miss blogging dearly. Can't wait for summer - no more school, way more time for blogging.
See you all then!

Father forgive me, for I have sinned.

Aldo rain boots. Urban Outfitters BDG shirt. Thrifted blazer. American Apparel leggings & sheer circle scarf (borrowed from Darcy). H&M necklace. Ring from flea market.

Yesterday, I had an Anatomy presentation in which I played a nun. I know what you're thinking, how could those things possibly relate? Well I did a presentation on Alzheimer's, and we got a lot of information from this study, which is actually quite cool.

 Me as a nun:

The AA scarf actually made quite a good habit (the head scarf nuns wear), if I do say so myself. Unfortunately it's not mine, I borrowed it from Darcy. Speaking of Darcy, she's started a food blog, The Wind Up Bird Wonderland. You should check it out =)

For a sample of her cooking, here's a delicious omelette that she made for me this weekend:

Also, yesterday went to AA and picked up a black Micro-Mesh Bodysuit, as well as the Long-Sleeve Floral Lace one - despite not having the money to do so. I'm excited to wear them - and you'll be the first to see when I do.

Oh Wow. Lovely.

Last Friday, my housemates & I hosted a "Skins" inspired blacklight party. I wore the shredded t-shirt that I mentioned ages ago I would make. Pictures below:

American Apparel socks, leggings and belt. Aldo necklace. DIY Shredded Hanes Tee.

The party was frigging amazing. Blacklights honestly automatically make anything about ten times better. The photos above were taken with disposable cameras, and I love the look of them. Looking at film photos kind of makes me want to never use a digital camera again (if only they weren't so convenient!)

Outfit [2010.02.13]

Just realized, never posted my Valentine's outfit. Wore this to an event called "Vuck Falentine's" the Saturday night before Valentine's.

H&M Sweater Vest. American Apparel Leggings & Belt. Aldo Booties.

And for shits & giggles:

Darcy as my minion. I must say she's pretty decent.

Outfit [2010.02.09]

American Apparel Dress. Bluenotes Hat. Hue tights. Aldo boots. Earrings from local boutique.

This dress is one of my favourites. Incredibly comfy & cute. Love it so much that I own not just one, but two.

I am IN LOVE with those beautiful darlings.

Also, let's not forget these beautiful Alexander McQueen booties:

Shoelust

My heart, it aches.

So now that I'm done torturing myself with things I will NEVER be able to have, let torture ourselves with things we can afford, but shouldn't buy if we want to be able to afford groceries.

All shoes from Aldo:

I want this boot most. My problem with it is that although I love high heels, I would never be able to spend an entire day in these - and to me, these look like day heels.

Same style as the boot above, just in black. Honestly prefer the brown more, but these would classify more as "night heels". However, the brown would work a lot better overall with my wardrobe.

I think these are a perfect in between - they can be dressed up or down, and they have a heel, but it's short and sturdy enough that these shoes can easily be worn all day. Love them. Problem: Aldo has just stopped selling them for my gigantic size Size 11 feet.

I hate life.
