R+tM Bakes Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

One of the things I love about being home for the summer is that pretty much any desert I want to make, the ingredients for it are pretty much guaranteed to be lying around my kitchen. I mean, there's rarely any food, but who needs a REAL meal?! Not me.

So I tried out Chocolate Chip Cookies, the one desert that for some reason I always screw up. But because I'm me, I had to make them double chocolate. Delish.

They were gone in less than 24 hours, I kid you not. I got to eat two of them. My house is full of crazy cookie monsters (a.k.a my sister and father. Pretty sure my mother doesn't eat anything with real sugar.)

P.S. Done my summer course, relishing my freedom. I plan to make the very most of these last summer days...

Oh, Canadiana

I am always behind the ball on these things. Above are pictures from my latest baking adventure - maple leaf sugar cookies for Canada Day (July 1st for the foreigners.) And no, I didn't have enough cookies to spell Canada, hence why the pictures are in sections. Ironically, I had just given away three cookies - one for my sister, her friend and my Dad - and eaten one myself before taking these photos. And I was four cookies short when spelling Canada... kindness is a killer, eh?

Also, Canada Day being on a Thursday REALLY messed with my head. Hoping it doesn't happen again any time soon but too lazy to check a calendar.

P.S. Happy July 4th for my American neighbours down south! Y'all do it big down there.

Taste The Rainbow.

We now interrupt our regularly scheduled programming for a foodie interlude.

Made these for my friend Mishka's birthday. They were DELICIOUS, seriously.

Also, bought these mommy jeans at Value Village. Stay tuned....

The Luck of the Irish

Fabulous baked goods made in honour of this glorious occasion:

(made by my lovelies Brianne & Boots)

As a University student, I have to say that there is a direct correlation between enthusiasm for an event, and how drunk it allows you to get.
Needless to say, the enthusiasm for St. Patty's was through the roof today on campus.

Have a lovely St. Patrick's!

Om Nom Nom: Apple Crisp Edition

I'm sure you've come to realize that anytime I'm bored, I bake.
This time, it was apple crisp.

Choppin' up them apples.

First layer of crisp... was supposed to be crumble, came out more like dough.

Full unbaked apple crisp.

Fresh out of the oven, smelled amazing.

It was damn good, and it better have been... it only took like 10 million hours to cut up all that apple.

Vuck Falentine's

Yes, I'm a bit late on the Valentine's update post. I'm in the middle of midterms right now, although temporary relief will soon arrive in the form of Reading Week. Joy!

Anyways, the most important part... My housemate Brianne & I got down to baking for Valentine's:

In the process of creating some fabulous baked goods.

Decorations!

Heart cake =) Made two of these to get the fabulous double-layered cake in the photo below.

Christened by Bri as "the tackiest cake ever."

Initial cupcakes!

Sugar cookies, om nom nom.

Initial cupcakes AND sugar cookies. Doesn't get better than that, does it?

Let it be known, neither Bri or I are particularly Valentine's people. But Boots loves it, and we thought we'd surprise her with baked goods in response to the fabulous valentines she left on all our doors last week.

Also, a friend came over and made us dinner later, it was delicious. Sadly, I don't have any pictures of that.

Also went out to a student event termed "Vuck Falentine's" Saturday night, hence the name of this post. Quick peek:

Darcy is precious, no?

Anyways, hope everyone had a great Valentine's!
