I Got To Fold 'Cause These Hands Are Too Shaky To Hold

The pictures of this outfit cam out kinda blurry and unfocused, sorry about that =/ Now that I'm back at school without my Dad's dSLR I've just been using my shitty P&S - and without flash, everything kind of goes to shit.

Lola's Room blazer, Costa Blanca shorts, random blouse.

This past weekend was homecoming! I go to an Ontario university well known both for it's academics and hard-partying reputation. The gold star on my school's record of imfamy was earned in 2004 when a car was flipped over and lit on fire during the annual homecoming street party - by students that weren't even from our school. So with dropping alumni donations due to a smeared reputation and a recession, our genius (read: idiotic) new principal decided to cancel homecoming for both last year AND this year.

And what was Homecoming now became Fauxcoming. I spent my Fauxcoming weekend nearly getting trampled in club lineups, hopping fences to get into house parties, watching police do nothing but waste our tax dollars and throw undeserving students in the back of police trucks - not to mention trying to avoid large piles of shit left by horses of said police (and mildly failing. Gross.)

But no good night ends without dancing, so after all those shenanigans we danced the night away at a local bar, which was way more fun than I anticipated. I might have pretended to not hear the cover girl say I had to pay five dollars - but hey, I had no cash and no one stopped me! Sometimes the best things in life do come for free.

P.S. Gave in, bought the black Frye boots from this post and they arrived yesterday! Will post pictures tomorrow. =)

Oh, You're In My Veins, and I Cannot Get You Out.

I can't this song out of my head. Rarely do I come across a song that hits me quite like this one did.

"Nothing goes as planned
Everything will break
People say goodbye
In their own special way
All that you can rely on
And all that you could fake
Will leave you in the morning
Come find you in the day."

It Takes A Muscle To Fall In Love

Everyone has that outfit that they fall back on when they're too lazy to put something together or don't have the time - for me, it's this American Apparel dress. I have it in both green and black (which is kind of embarassing.) It's comfortable, warm (key for Canadian winters) and simple - perfect for a student who occasionally wakes up only 20 minutes before her 8.30 morning class. But today I wanted to dress it up a bit, do a little something different.

American Apparel dress, Ardene's belt, Forever 21 necklace and scarf, Hue tights, H&M bracelets and vintage cowboy boots.

I'll consider this outfit an exercise in pattern and texture. I love that it's a combination of items which I wouldn't normally put together - but somehow it works. Definitely the most boho outfit I've worn in a while.

Marina + the Diamonds

"Oh, everybody said
Marina is a dreamer
People like to tell you what you're gonna be
It's not my problem if you don't see what I see
And I do not give a damn if you don't believe."

Do Right And Kill Everything

Urban Outfitters top, Torrid jacket, Bongo jeans, Converse shoes, Forever 21 necklace, rings from Ebay and fleamarket.

Friday's outfit. This jacket is one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe. I really never get to wear it though, because (as you can see) it's bright, neon pink - which isn't the easiest colour to work with. I might have ended up looking like a hipster, but that's okay. I've decided that on Fridays, I'll let my inner hipster roam wild and free. She's been locked up far too long.

Well m'dear, It Seems Autumn Is Here.

I know Fall is supposed to be a fashionista's favourite season. I know I'm supposed to be conjuring beautiful images in my brain of jumping into large piles of leaves while wearing cosy knits and riding boots before heading inside to laugh in front of a fireplace with friends while drinking hot cocoa.

But I'm not feeling it. As a person whose favourite two accessories are tights and layering you'd think I'd be shitting my pants in excitement - but all I can feel is pissed off, because in fall you can never dress for the weather. You're too cold or too hot but you're never just right.

However, there is one thing that could make me change my mind...

These boots. Black or "Gaucho", I don't care because I plan on owning both eventually. But these boots.... these boots would make Fall worth the drama.

She Don't Really Want Your Love - She Wants Your Credit Card.

My "Susie Homemaker" outfit:

Forever 21 bow-tie ring & skirt, secondhand black tee, Simply Vera tights, Payless heels and fleamarket necklace.

Wore this on Thursday, although in the interest of full disclosure during the day on campus I wore it with Docs, and these shoes later on when I was running errands. This outfit makes me feel like a bit of a cupcake - not entirely sure how that makes sense, I just know how I feel.

New obsession:

We'll Be Young Forever

You how you can listen to a song, and it just pulls you right back into a memory? For me, these are the songs that will always pull me back into the summer of twenty-ten - and it was a damn good summer, seriously.

Down With Webster - Your Man

Drake - Show Me A Good Time

Major Lazer - Keep it Goin' Louder

Drake - Find Your Love

Gyptian - Hold Yuh (Remix) ft. Nicki Minaj

Katy Perry - California Gurls

Ciara - Ride

Trey Songz - Neighbours Know My Name

DJ Khaled - All I Do Is Win

Drake - Fancy

Shakira - Waka Waka (This Time For Afrika)

Colour Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up (this one's for Mo! lol)

Travie McCoy Ft. Bruno Mars - Billionaire

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

I know Fall is supposed to be a Fashionista's favourite season and all but I'm not feeling it, I definitely still have summer on the brain. Maybe a new pair of boots would warm me to the idea...

On Those Back To School Tips

Back at Uni, starting third year, and officially scared shitless. People thought I was crazy for choosing Neuroscience as my specialization and now I see why. My first week isn't even over yet and I can tell this year is going to be the most stressful yet.

Photoboothed my outfit out of laziness:

Bongo jeans, Dynamite Blazer, Forever 21 scarf and blouse, Guess? bracelet, H&M rings.

I dunno if you noticed but new glasses! Got oversized frames in a spirit of academia. Not sure if they're working but it's the thought that counts, right? Also, the messenger bag was my school bag in third grade, and now I'm using it again in third year. Shows that when you (or your lovely parents) spend money on quality stuff, it WILL last you forever.

Contemplating putting up pictures of my new room since I'm pretty proud of it - spent the last week organizing it since I got back to school. It's crazy how much you can fit in a room slightly larger than the average closet.

The Limit Does Not Exist.

Would like to apologize for my absence. Partly due to being exceptionally busy - travelling to Waterloo to see friends (twice), going to NYC with family, packing to move back to school and trying to spend every last moment at home with friends, before I have to leave. The other reason is a bit of disillusionment with blogging, and how it's warped my shopping habits. Although with going back to school next week, a student budget of pretty much zero for shopping should sort that right out.

Got tatted today, the first of many to come. The symbol is called a lemniscate; it stands for infinity. In calculus, the lemniscate is often used to denote that the limit of an function is infinite or boundless - in other words, the limit does not exist.

It's a philosophy I hope to incorporate into my life more often heading into my third year of University. Last year was a bit of a train wreck for me, both academically and emotionally and I'm hoping to make a lot of changes. Now this symbol is here to remind me that Impossible Is Nothing, to always believe in my abilities and the bigger, better things on the horizon.
