Also, went shopping today and although I bought purely summer items from the sales racks (denim cutoffs, silk tank tops, crop tops and the like) I somehow managed to end up buying all these items in either white, grey, or black. Boring, or a genius way to transition to fall?

Since I like to pat myself on the back, I'm going to go with the latter.

Wore this on Thursday, although in the interest of full disclosure during the day on campus I wore it with Docs, and these shoes later on when I was running errands. This outfit makes me feel like a bit of a cupcake - not entirely sure how that makes sense, I just know how I feel.

I know, fantastically creative title, right? Because watching music videos is something that that only the unique & cool kids do. (I'm willing to bet that you're one of said cool kids if you're awesome enough to be reading this blog.)

Anyways, some music videos I've been loving. They aren't all exactly new, but they're lovely all the same.











To me, the purpose of a music video is to add new dimension to the music and affect the viewer - and each of these videos did it well, albeit in very different ways. I have to admit that I didn't even like "Love The Way You lie" until I saw the video.

P.S. If you haven't already watched the Born Free video, let me warn you that it is extremely graphic and not for the weak of heart, but I think it is worth putting up because it really makes you think. One of many reasons why I love M.I.A.

I Live For The Nights That I Can't Remember, With the People That I Won't Forget.

Last night, I saw Drake in concert... honestly, words cannot even describe this experience. I have never seen such a hyped up crowd in my life. Because honestly, nobody loves Drake like Toronto does. And he showed us he loved us too, because the wasn't just a Drake concert.

Young Jeezy, Bun-B, Mack Maine, Fabulous, Rick Ross, Kardinal Offishall all showed up as surprise guests. And by now, everyone is whylin' out, going off to every Drake song and he is showing us a good time. But he upped the ante... starts telling us about Toronto women, how he loves his hometown, how "I love this city with my entire life." And he picks a girl out of the crowd, brings her on stage.

Her name is Sara and every girl in the crowd wanted to be her. Because I'm pretty sure that Drake kissing your forehead & neck and telling you that "you're beautiful", not to mention "your ass looks great in those shorts" is on the top of every T.O. girl's wishlist.

But wait, it gets better. Because who was the next surpise guest?

EMINEM. MARSHALL-FUCKING-MATHERS. IN TORONTO. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.



It can't get any better than that. But wait... it just did. BECAUSE JAY-Z IS ON STAGE, RUNNING THIS TOWN.



This is the point where I started screaming so loudly I couldn't hear myself and jumping so much I couldn't see... my heart stopped. Because to see Drake in concert already made me happier than words could express. But to see Jeezy, Bun-B, Mack Maine, Fabulous, Rick Ross, Kardinal, Eminem and Jay-Z?! It doesn't get better than that.

Normally at concerts I am obsessed with getting fantastic photos, but for the first time in my life I was honestly too wrapped up in anything the madness and energy of the show to get a decent photo. And I don't care, because enjoying myself there was worth more than any picture. But here's a picspam from the professionals:

I've been seeing this Lissie cover of Bad Romance all around the internet lately, and I can't lie, I've become obsessed with it.




I also love this cover by Haley Williams (of Paramore), I just wish it was the full song.



Anyways, must get back to studying now. It's the last week of classes before exams, and shit is about to get real. Wish me luck!

I'd listened to "Oh My God," but other than that I'd never heard much of her music. Grabbed the album off of Bri, and this track stood out immediately.

Love to listen to this one in the morning when I'm getting ready or when I'm walking to school. Yes, I'm a nerd, because it's really about losing love - not early mornings.

Ja Rule - Down 4 U

Random, right? I was watching this movie "Fish Tank" (It's really good) and there's one scene where this song is playing on the TV and the main character is dancing along. It's been stuck in my head since. I really loved this song when it came out.

So I love Rude Boy, the 3rd song off Rihanna's new album, Rated R. And the video did not disappoint:



Loving the dancehall influence written all over this video, makes sense considering the name.

Also in love with Major Lazer. Although I'm West Indian (in background, wasn't born there), I honestly listen to very little to no West Indian music (dancehall, soca, reggae etc.). It's kind of sad I needed a Western segueway into dancehall, but good music is good music, right?

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what the Machine part is though. Really and truly, the name is inspired by the amazing woman:



So I'm not exactly sure what this blog will be about, mostly I've just been inspired by the numerous fashion blogs out there I've been reading, as well as my fabulous housemates Haley @ They Called Me Boots, Kirstie @ Mr. Darcy's Cravat and Brianne to start a blog of my own. I think we'll mix in fashion, baking, television, music, movies - basically all the good things in life - to make this awesome. We'll see how it goes, ya?

P.S. I am definitely not avoiding writing a Organic Chemistry lab write up right now. Especially at 5.45 in the morning.
